The Challenge Has Begun - Good Luck to Our Trainers and Their Brumbies
Briar lives in Wensleydale, VIC and grew up with a natural passion for horses.
She attended pony club at a young age and then had the opportunity to attend an Equestrian mastery programme at her high school which enabled her to
learn from some of the best equestrian coaches in Australia. From there she developed a passion to help off the track, unhanded and sometimes abused horses.
She has been training Brumbies for 6 years and has competed in 3 Australian Brumby challenges previously.
Briar believes all horses learn differently, just like people. She makes it her job to find the best way to communicate with each individual horse.
Using positive and negative reinforcements she
safely and kindly transitions each horse into a relaxed domestic lifestyle.
VBA Precious is a divine dark brown mare.
She was caught from New South Wales Kosciuszko National Park in late August, 2017 with her family group.
Sadly, Precious and her family were ‘gifted’ by NPWS to someone who sold them to a third party and they ended up at the Echuca sales less than two weeks after their capture from Kosi.
By the time we heard about them, they had been sold through the auction to the Maffra knackery.
We were able to purchase them and bring them to safety here at Brumby Junction sanctuary.
Shortly after her arrival with us, Precious gave birth to a beautiful colt, VBA Galway.
She has been able to raise her in peace in our larger paddocks prior to coming in for the McDowell's Australian Brumby Challenge.
